Roller needs to be used with even pressure, the depth and evenness of the clay is dependent on how much pressure is applied.
Tip - you can use a plastic sheet, cling wrap or otherwise, to prevent clay from sticking onto the roller. Place plastic wrap between roller and clay, or dough.
